How to be an early day starter

I’ve been on my fifth day of being an early starter. I have always loved the life of an entrepreneur, my waking up has always been based on work demand. I’ve had days when I knock off to sleep at 4am only to be up by 6 for another assignment, but on a general note 6:15am has always been my wake up time for meditation and news reports. In the past five days, I’ve derived pleasure with adjusting my inward clock to wake up at 4:30am regardless of the time I sleep- and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. [Read the rest of this entry...]

The audacity of Obama’s hope- yes!

For the very first time in History, the american elections gripped the world like a vice. Even the Nigerian elections did not carry the same fear and exitement among peoples. People could no longer distinguish between people who had the right to vote or not…

Today, 200 years after the abolition of slave trade and 40 years of Martin Luther king, the Obama brand makes history. The first Arican-American, the youngest Black president defeating in one of the most land slide victories and smashing the Bradley phenomenum, that tells us Amerivcans can still be racists @ heart. I greatly congratulete the man  who has inspired hope in the lives of Americans with great audacity and strength.

kudos also to the men behind the Obama scene. thay may be unsung, unheard- but they have been responsible for the Obama virus. David Axelrod, Obama’s political strategist; Robert Gibbs, Barrack Obama’s spokesman and the countless of people who believe in hhim and his dream of bringing hope to the millions of Americans and the globe at large.

congratulations, America.

who says we can’t change Nigeria.?

YES WE CAN!

How to boost compatibility in your relationship

Most people walk into a marriage and relationships blindly as if the single life were a disability; they arrive only to discover after the initial burst of excitement, that it takes more than emotions to sustain love. Many more individuals enter into relationships with false expectations hoping that their partner is the solution to the enormous amount of personal problems they have had. Only after a while will they discover their object of desire brings along his/her own challenges. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Nigerian Role Models- Blessing Ibukun Awosika

In my search for Nigerian Role models, she appears to be the first woman on my growing list. Having spoken to her once, and listened to her three times with the last being at the Platform, I count her worthy to grace my blog pages. She really spoke my mind at the platform by pointedly telling people to actually discover before jumping into businesses, if they need to be an entrepreneur or working for someone.  Following the international prominence of Obi Ezekwesili and Okonjo Iweala, she’s maintained the passion on the home front. She’s one of the shining stars that have been added to the growing list of women role models. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Book review- Leke Alder’s Minding your Business

After visiting the bookshop several times thinking whether to buy the book or not, I finally got my copy. Leke Alder is my guy any day, though he didn’t blow me off my chair when he came to The Platform (a programme organized by Covenant Christian Center, Nigeria on the 1st of October 2008), I still was glad like everyone, even Bishop Oyedepo could not hide his impression with this conceptual individual. He addressed the questions with a classical display of wisdom and intellect, that made me wonder why his speech/talk did not move me that way, I will probably find out one day. THE EMERGING FUTURE THOUGHT LEADERS

The kind of Nigeria we seek is already being defined today. Politicians, businessmen and public speakers have continually encouraged us to get prepared for the future, but the people who will be the leaders and shakers of the future are not complaining about the present, they are not even preparing for it, they are creating it- there are people who are creating, crafting, defining the future you will be living in tomorrow, today. Lessons from the Dragons’ Den

I’m really looking forward to the next episode of the Dragons’ Den. I’ve turned myself into a little dragon, trying to analyse and assess the strength and weaknesses of the contestants and dragons and also trying to decide if the Dragon’s verdicts merited commendation. It’s been a relief from the wide array of “live-in” and dance reality shows being aired all around our TVs.

Dragons’ Den, along with bank PHB’s intern and MTN’s Who Wants To Be  A Millionaire are fantastic shows that exemplify and amplify values that can build nations and businesses, rather than skill and talent [Read the rest of this entry...]

NIgeria @ 48… a prelude

Today I woke thinking about a lot of issues that hinge on Nigeria, and her dream. Having read the promises made by her founding fathers, presidents year in year out, full of promises, promises hopes and aspiration. But while coming to a resolution before i write, i would like us to look again at the old national anthem of Nigeria, though written by a white man, carries a lot of wisdom… [Read the rest of this entry...]

What matters - your degree or your pedigree?

Before you begin to question my audacity of comparing university degrees and pedigrees in the pursuit of success, please read patiently. There were certain times I’ve had to speak with people who graduated from the university with poor grades who spend more time complaining. They believe if they had better grades, more opportunities, things would have changed- that is not totally true. While I am not an advocate of academic mediocrity and stunted intelligence, I believe the prospect of the destiny of any man is not limited to the four walls of a university. I have friends who were academic stars and are succeeding; I also have as friends those who passed through college and universities, dripping with blood and marks of trials and adversity. Today, even less than 10 years after, I really have not seen an exceptional difference.  But then there is another class of people… [Read the rest of this entry...]

Nigeria bloggers’ conference: a candid X-ray

There are few times you attend a meeting and the people are pushing the boundaries of development in a blended atmosphere of fun and seriousness. Why did I rush down there? Despite deadlines to meet on Monday, despite ‘my reluctant car’ refusing to move and I had to also get to another meeting elsewhere in Ogba, Lagos Nigeria. I strolled into the place defying the stubbornness of the car without fear of regrets. It was because I knew the power in beginnings, I knew the potential blogs have when it comes to being a media of transmission of ideas, news, business and particularly, national revolutions. I had previously posted on the potential of blogs and the power they have to generate a following, spread the gospel, helping to set up a strong customer base and how it is being used in various areas [Read the rest of this entry...]
